Released in 2011 and 2012, Mac OS X Lion and OS X Mountain Lion were the last paid software updates for the Mac. Ten years ago, users needed to pay Apple $19.99 for the latest version of its OS X. OS X Mountain Lion (version 10.8) is the ninth major release of macOS, Apple Inc.' S desktop and server operating system for Macintosh computers. OS X Mountain Lion was released on July 25, 2012 for purchase and download through Apple's Mac App Store, as part of a switch to releasing OS X versions online and every year, rather than every two years or so. After you enter in your credentials for iMessage and any other chat clients, you may now begin to use the application!
This is a screenshot of the main window. This is where the messages show up (one unified window) with the newest conversation on top. Messages received on an iDevice including the iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch while you are away will be updated when you return on your Mac so you can always stay up-to-date with the latest in your conversations. This provides a convenient way to respond to messages normally sent to your phone.

Mac OS X Lion (10.7) is a version of the Mac OS X operating system released by Apple on 20 July 2011. This version dropped support for the x86 userland and architecture and removed Rosetta and Front Row. It introduced the Launchpad and was originally only released as an App Store update that could only be updated normally from Snow Leopard.
